The mighty Isis!
ISIS
1997(?) - 2015

Named after the Queen Goddess of Ancient Egypt, Isis was my constant companion since her adoption from the Oak Park Animal Shelter in 2000. She was inquisitive, very demanding, affectionate, and loved her daily rituals. Most days started with her coming down the stairs to my office and loudly announcing herself. She then proceeded to jump up on the box I had positioned for her use as a stepladder from the floor to my desk. She continued her journey always stepping gingerly on my answering machine’s ERASE button. The machine then declared, "Press ERASE again to erase all messages" causing me substantial daily distress. She then traveled behind my printer and, reaching the edge of a worktable, placed both front paws on the left arm of my chair, gave a final jump, and completed her trip onto me. After a short climb up my chest she settled in and I supplied her with obligatory head and ear scratches until she had enough bliss whereupon she would sit on my lap with her chin nestled in my left wrist while I struggled to type on my computer keyboard. This was our daily ritual.

Here are some few pictures of her which may give you a sense of her personality.

We lived together in Forest Park from 2000 to about 2007. She was a heat loving animal and enjoyed her kitty nest lined with a fluffy towel under which I had a heating pad going to insure her comfort.

In my Forest Park office she developed the curious habit of scrambling up my chair. I learned that she could function quite well as a headrest/pillow.

Using a half filled box of paper and a special Energy Wasting Light Bulb running at 250 watts I created a mini sauna for Her Majesty. She spent quite a lot of time there.

We moved to Crystal Lake and after a two day adjustment period she took over the house. She always enjoyed a good view.

And she liked to pose when the mood came upon her.

One of her all-time favorite spots was the top of my office monitor. I would spend the day working while she spent the day napping and enjoying the copious heat.

Her table manners were impeccable.
If your cat “gobbles” please do feel free to share this video with him/her.

In the springtime things hopped and crawled in the bushes.

We had a goodly amount of laptime.

I am assured by a medium I visit that all people and animals move on to another world where they are well cared for. This being the case it won’t be too long until my friend and I are back together again.

Meanwhile . . .
Life is good
